Job Searching : 16 hours 2 Days and Whamo you get a job
It has come to my attention that it only takes spending 2 days and total of 16 hours to get a job. Well, I overheard it as I was walking along Los Gatos Creek Trail. I nearly fell off my bike when I heard it and turned around to yell Bull Crap!
I am usually not that rude and vocal in public, I have some restraint but, it got me thinking.
If you spent exactly 16 hours over 2 days would you get a job?
Would you gather that from opening a laptop or going to the local coffee shop that pursuing a job is an easy task?
Let's start with reviewing your skills, what do you do ? What can you do? What is your niche? Those questions alone can tie someone in knots for a full 2 days.
So, you open up the Craigslist webpage and you start at the arena you are familiar with say, being a short order cook because you can make scrambled eggs really fast. Maybe you know numbers and decide accounting is your forte. You read the requirements and then hit reply and then ......
You type that you meet the qualifications and can't wait to meet for an interview and ....
nothing happens. You have spent the first hour of your 16 hours looking and replying and you are not magically rewarded with a job. So you repeat the process and you keep getting the same response. Then you decide how to change it up ...maybe you want to work from home and now you find a job!
The gist is that it takes time to get a job and maybe you should look more than one place to find a job
