Housing and Reality

A 10x12 room is 120 square feet at current commercial business rental of $3 per square feet that is only $360. I think I have that in spare change of a spare change jar in my storage unit. Heck, many people have that available balance on their credit card.

Yet, a metal shade room at the same measurements are $1,500. On Sale.

So, then figure out the benefit of such an item to a individual without shelter. The average camping tent is $70 I see them littering the sides of railroads and easements.

The 399 square feet abode with water and electrical / gas hookups is just hovering around $80,000. Yet, the United States still has a homeless problem.

In SF, the possibility of forcing mentally ill homeless individuals into a treatment is rather last ditch effort on a unwinding of social services that started in 1980's with Republican President Reagan. I distinctly remember it because the hospital in my "neighborhood" Agnews was put back into the trust of the community and the community couldn't support it. Slowly the Agnews transferred patients out of the facility because humanity is dark and rather horrible ( think Stranger Things Pennhurst Hospital except in Sunny California ).

The problem is that because of the dwindling coping mechanisms; society has stated that we all have anxiety (even our pets) so isn't that a mental health issue? Wouldn't having housing alleviate this too?

The complexity of the layers of providing housing or health care or hell even getting job to afford all the layers is lost in the menusha of personal choice or the freedom to do it.

Its one thing to throw off the layers of the English crown rule its a completely different to hold a society responsible for your own well being...those english men were really selfish in 1770's.

America, for being such a young country has some really old problems. The divisions of church and state are technically a great idea. The freedom of expression is important. The well being of one....oh wait...hold on. The three tier system has thrown so many wrenches in the system no wonder a city with the population of 1 Million is trying to emulate Norway because of those freedoms we hold so dear frighten so many people...especially the men in power. Why else would the right to choose be under attack. The basic health care needs of one set of species has been thrown out by the highest court in the land.

So, there is your reality. The Judicial arm of the government has corrupted the individuals right to health care, to take care of ones self to provide basic needs. Skewered reality if you think about it. A entire population manipulated by the whims of a cabal of people struggling to hold on to power all so that their distorted reality of society wins.

Wait, what does this have to do with the capitalism of cost of said shelter? Well, if we look at the Legislative Arm of government it would interesting to note how housing is perceived on that scale because we know the Executive Branch could start a marketing campaign that says "A Home for every tax payer" tomorrow and it would not come to fruition but, it will keep a politician in office.

Still, 120 square feet sun shade shelter with screen doors is only $1500 on sale. A 399 square feet mobile manufactured structure is $80,000 with water and electrical hookups.

So is it the land mass or services that are dictating (sic) the pricing of the shelter or the capitalist society that has been hamstrung by the social needs of the same society?

Reality is definitely distorted when looking at the glass menagerie.
