The Pizza Files : Nizario's Pizza
There was a conversation on Bluesky about pizza. The cost, the taste, the ethos of what a slice of dough costs and tastes. Hence, I have to do a series on it because if there is one thing...I like Pizza and I am surrounded by Pizza.
Working on Valencia Street I am privy to about eight (8) different pizza spots, it was nine until Yellow Moto closed at the end of 2024. Trust me, it not just the plethora of food on Valencia Street nor was it the lack of traffic. Its literally the cost of doing business is expensive and rent is not cheap for such a prime spot on a busy neighborhood street.Nizario's Pizza is one of those spots that looks like a #holeinthewall. Its good pizza. The sauce, the crust its good pizza. Trust me if you can't enjoy a hot slice of Nizario's Pizza you don't like pizza.
Remember Pizza is for everyone and its history from Naples to the streets of San Francisco is what love for hot, good food is. Pizza can be gourmet and yes, the dough can be thick.
You just have to know, a flatbread with toppings is love for history and you.
You can't go wrong with a slice of combination pizza and a coke. The sauce isn't so spicy you need honey. And the dough isn't so thick you need a knife and fork. The toppings are mixed right balance. Now, granted I would have had a beer with my slice but, I am trying to be mindful and just enjoy a slice of pizza.
That is what I did. I got a warm slice of meat on dough with a coca-cola for less than $10. I was able to enjoy it before going on my commute home. This spot has been here and I have walked past it a 100 times.
But its GOOD Food. Reliable and satisfying that I don't need a HUGE slice but your basic pie. I was satisfied.
You would be too.
