Bicycle Travel

 Due to the transit driver strike  I had to figure out the how to get to the train to get to work. Which meant I had to estimate the time to get to the connection and the time and effort to get home safely. The privilege that I had was I am able bodied and financially able. This is not true for everyone in Santa Clara County. A population of 2.1 Million people and an estimated 100,000 transit users. 

What made me mad was when you as a regular transit user went to either Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority website or the driver's union website there was NO INFORMATION FOR ALTERNATIVES. It took me 30 minutes on Monday, March 10th to find resources for the peninsula and south county area. It took two weeks for the agency to offer a $5 voucher with a ride hailing service. 

I reached out to elected officials and got crickets ....

No response from elected officials that reportedly represent the area ( by the way Santa Clara County is like 50 miles long and 25 miles wide as it encompasses 8 cities. There is nothing to say of the average income range is somewhere between $1 to Millions but, individuals have a base of $70K. The age range is 0-100 easily but the transit rider is the same in each demographic age and income ( Average is 18-45 at $50K ). The culprit might be that the current governmental regime in Washington D.C is causing more distraction, but the reason for the deafness of elected officials is simply political action committees for union all generously donated to elected officials campaigns so, even the Governor of California was hands off in finding a resolution to the striking transit drivers. 

So, I am going to post some of those resources here again because its going to happen again because seriously people with guns shoot themselves in the foot all the time.
