Finding a 3rd Place : Transit edition
The local bus drivers union (ATU LOCAL 265) is on strike my 3rd place is far and few between. Fortunately, I live in a metropolitan area and within a 5 mile radius of where I live there are about three shopping centers and four movie theaters.
The downtown districts are within the walking range. There is two libraries and about three different bookstores. Its nice when there isn't a storm surge going on or tornado or something in the weather. Yes, I need sunny, 70 degrees puffy clouds in the sky with a light breeze to do stuff. I also need to just get out regardless of the weather.
I also have to get to work. The 3.5 miles to the next transit connection so, I can haul my arse via two feet to said connection at 5:30 am in the morning. So, that 80 minute walk is awesome to enjoy and so is a lyft ride.
Thus, I rented a bike from Sports Basement. This got me on the newsletter and I learned about another 3rd place I can go and that is riding a bike with other people on an bike path. Or I can attend a bike webinar and there is like 40 other people on the webinar with me.
Be advised where you're third place becomes is likely within 5 miles, but how do you get there.
So, there is walking, Lyft and ...
SVHopper, Ryde and if you have an active, approved VTA Access account you could use that program.
