Making Breakfast

Most work days I get up and out the door by 6:30 am. I hop on the train and some three hours later I am in my office drinking coffee and eating oatmeal before the first telephone ring. On the weekends, I struggle a lot to stay in bed and sometimes its not a struggle sleeping in till noon. If I am not volunteering or decluttering or on some adventure to share I make breakfast.

I am not gourmet since instant oatmeal is about my biggest forte into breakfast. So, when I found myself wandering around Campbell's farmers market thinking about breakfast I was perplexed. Stacks is really good but a long wait, Manresa Bread is nice but far too many people to actually enjoy breakfast. I walked by Tessora's and while 11am is a bit early for wine tasting I was pleasantly surprised to find a simple breakfast plate of bacon, potatoes, and eggs.

I was so happy afterward I thought to myself, why not make this at home. Well, first off, the treat to myself is to simply enjoy a breakfast being served. Secondly, getting out of the house ( its not just for job seekers ) and practice those social skills. Thirdly, my cooking is somewhat rudimentary but, really one must spoil oneself to get to the next level.

I should mention that I went around the variety of places to get said breakfast and stunned by the amounts charged for a simple breakfast. Finally, I broke down and went to the grocery store and bought a dozen eggs, cheese, potatoes, turkey bacon and pineapple juice for the cost of one breakfast.

Now, I might get four breakfasts out of the deal and some self confidence that I can cook, but I am not relaxed when I eat my breakfast. I usually am cleaning dishes and eating not really sitting back and enjoying my breakfast.

Though to be fair

on some mornings I am up very early and I head over to Peets for a mocha, yogurt and croissant which can be just as good.
