5-4-3-2-1 Shopping To Save Money ?

 One thing about the New Year is that you have to #savemoney whether you are protesting or promoting or protecting your funds you gotta save your funds first. The newest trend is when you grocery shop you follow a 5-4-3-2-1 rule


 

5 Vegetables 

4 Proteins

3 Fruits

2 Carbs

1 Treat 

I decided to try this with Trader Joe's and try it under $100 ( one hundred dollars ) 

So, how did I do? I needed toilet paper and I was tasked with another request but I still came in under $78 



BUT ! I forgot  cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, peanut butter, jelly, butter, tuna, spices and nuts. 

I did end up spending $40 at Whole foods to get a few of the items and I needed still get some basics i.e. cleaning supplies and shampoo. Next month I am going to do the same with Grocery Outlet and my list might be more like 7-6-5-4-3-2-1
