Get A Job For The Holidays Today!
Yes, Today, July 29th is when you start or get started on a job for the end of the year holidays. It may sound strange but usually by getting a part time job now when November starts you are working full time. No, I am not going to tell you to volunteer. I am going to tell you to apply to every placement agency in your area even ones that specialize in certain industries.
Getting a part time gig in August can lead into a full time gig because you will have learned the processes when everyone else takes a holiday vacation.
You want to take a holiday off well, I learned from a very good retail store manager that sometimes celebrating a holiday off holiday was more worth the experience of working on a holiday.
Next, after applying to different placement agencies ( Pro Tip: Remember Don't bother them on Monday but check in on Tuesdays and late Thursday afternoons ). Start looking at Insta work or Flex jobs or even Gigs on Craigslist sometimes you can apply for a job at a venue or work a skill like helping people prepare for winter.
Also, if you know you can shovel snow or clean gutters start asking people in the neighborhood or just start asking people if they need their gutters cleaned and you can usually find a few people. Always remember your best talent for finding a job is work you know you have to do.
Next, Schools are starting check in with the district or police department for being a Crossing Guard. Its not a lot of money but its work and one thing that helps you find a job is to have a job. Okay, maybe you don't want to do that but, what about your favorite sports team NFL, NHL, and NBA will be starting soon start checking with the agencies that staff the stadiums or department of parks and rec for seasonal jobs.
Also, look at supplies the teams food services, equipment gear, who fixes the electricity, paves the parking lot and start literally pounding the pavement.
Now, you know I am going to mention nonprofits but, at year end nonprofits turn up the dial to 100 on fundraising and events look at event spaces, nonprofits that have year end galas are the hotel hiring, is the nonprofit looking for temporary employees to help just for the event. What about catering companies that do large scale events, what about the Audio Visual and Entertainment providers they need help too.
Check out TEAMWORKONLINE for job board in sports.
Next, Check out Good Sports for a nonprofit view.
Don't forget local Parks and Rec agencies and services from food service to cutting the grass someone has to that job too.
